4th - 7th of August 2006
Impiana Resort, Cherating

Number of attendees:
450

Number of Superstar Salsa Performers:
12 International
Including Santo Rico (US), Susana Montero (UK), Jaime & Liz (Aust.), Candice & Lautaro (Swiss), Ash (India), etc.
12 Local
Malaysia + Singapore... feelin' neighbourly

Number of Press + Media people:
12

Number of MSF Ground Crew:
20 little angels

Devils really.

Number of MSF Organizing Committee:
10
We were soooo outnumbered!

Number of Workshops per day:
Between 12 - 14
beachside workshops (morning) + 3 different workshops happening at the same time in 3 different locations (afternoon)

Workshops were taught by:
Santo Rico, US

Susana Montero, UK
Jaime & Liz, Australia
Candice & Lautaro, Switzerland
Gupson, Suman, Jackson, Fi & Anasri, Singapore
Pat, Fasil, Gavin and Sam, Malaysia

Number of Performances per night:
Between 9 - 12
Not only Salsa by the International stars and Local groups mind you but Belly Dancing and oh my, Exotic Dancing.

Number of Buffet Lines:
minimum 3 lines per meal
24 lines in total

Last call at the bar:
3 am

Party lasted until:
Who knows? Heard some people caught the flu by staying out in the pool until 5 am.

Number of Nervous Breakdowns I had:
3, which is pretty good considering that I didn't get to eat, sleep or even rest for that matter in the 3 days of MSF.

Someone (Chin Ling, bless your heart) commented that I always looked so calm and serene during the whole melange. I snorted in disbelief when I heard that and swore to high heaven that I felt anything but calm and serene!

It felt good though when we sent off the last bus back to KL. We were all busting with pride and also, I'm sure, a huge sense of relief. I think everyone on the Organizing Committee (including myself) fell ill the very next day (someone came down with high fever just as we were leaving Cherating poor girl)!

We also got some great publicity thanks to Channel V, TV3 and The Star.
How cool is that?
Anyways, if I can find some stuff to link, will do so as soon as I get back from my much deserved rest at Pulau Perhentian ;)

Cherating Beckons

I don't know whether I'm excited or dreading the launch of MSF.
We've all been working so hard to make it happen...
All those late nights, bruised egos and frazzled nerves are starting to get, well, on my nerves.
Suffice to say, I'm going to be reaaaaaaaal busy next weekend.
Got a small army of college kids to help me execute the nitty gritty details of running this event but I have a nasty feeling that I'll have to do most of the running around.
I'm soooo not in shape for that.
Imagine: we have over 500 people coming from all over the world and the logistics of the whole thing is mind boggling and I'm getting a headache just thinking about it!
Anyways, here's hoping that everything goes according to plan.
*fingers crossed*
Cheers lovelies.

"The Sword Behind The Veil"

The Hafla was a resounding success.
For the fourth year running, we've managed to pull together this event for the love of Belly Dancing with rave reviews from all who participated.
Thank you for your support and love ladies.
I promise you, next year's will be bigger and better.

Anyways, the staff of Impiana Hotel must've never seen an invasion of this kind before as ladies, dressed to entice, were shimmying and shaking to the exotic music, clearly enjoying themselves amongst like minded women.
The food was great, the decor was oh-so-"Rock The Kasbah", and the crowd? Simply lovely.
Oh, and we had a total of 14 fabulous performances from professionals and students alike!
They were so elegant on stage and I applaud them for their willingness to share their skills openly and bravely.
To me, the performances that stood out were
Sherlyn's solo and her Sirrocco Secrets Dance Troupe's energetic dance (made up entirely of Sherlyn's students), plus Naziehah's sensual tribal dance and the very cheeky Huda.
We definitely hope to see more good things from the different dance schools' students and instructors.

The audience were also treated to an invitation to join the ever lovely Sherlyn in a choreographed line dance, not to mention an impromptu performance by my 4 year old little sister and 5 year old niece! (Man, those kids sure can shimmy and just loved the attention... I think it's in the genes. Heheheh)

On another note, as we are the sole wholesale supplier of authentic Egyptian Belly Dance costumes, hip scarves and accessories in Malaysia, our stalls with super low sale prices were mobbed.
So if you missed this year's Hafla and bargains, I'm afraid you'll just have to wait for next year as we only do retail once a year at the Hafla.

Otherwise, look me up at Mont Kiara ;)

12 lucky ladies also won prizes from our lucky draws (prizes courtesy of Ozmosis Spa, Impiana Hotel and Sahara Tent) but at a Linline Production event, everyone is a winner as every single person received a little something to show our appreciation just for taking the time and effort to join us: a FREE delicately beautiful, mouth blown perfume bottle from Egypt!

Now, make sure you don't miss next year's Hafla ladies :)

Oh, and do check out reviews of the event.

Oh dear

It's been awhile hasn't it?
In fact, I haven't even been to Mont Kiara in 2 weeks!

Why, you ask?
Well, I'm working at this event management company on a part time basis but if you know anything about event management companies, there's no such thing as "part-time."

They've got me doing all sorts of things man...
From writing to reccees, from decorations to liasons!
Jeez.
But yeah, I'm learning a lot on this job and making loads of great contacts, so I guess I'm thankful... I should be, shouldn't I?

During one of our reccee meetings at Cherating last weekend. We were frustrated.... Why?

That's why. I didn't even get to step on the beach! *sob*sob*

Fans that I decorated for an event last Tuesday. Seems that my butterfly trademark has caught on...
