Latifa

It’s been a long time since I did any wire weaving so I picked up some wire with nothing really concrete in mind. All I knew was that I wanted something elegant, simple and yet striking and Latifa materialised after a solid 3 hours! “Gentle” and “kind” are just some of the meanings behind the name which originates from the Arab language.

:: Materials :: Swarovski bicones in Aurum, Dorado 2x & Golden Shadow. All wires & findings are brass.
:: Price :: RM135

Matryoshkas for a Party

These little bracelets, or what I call Daria, are the custom made favors that mummy May requested for daughter Sara's guests to her fab 9th Karaoke Birthday Party. How cool is that? Each Russian doll or Matryoshka charm is accompanied by a teeny tiny pewter heart on a silver cable chain bracelet. Sweet and simple, perfect for little girls and little-girls-at-heart. Retails at RM30 (child size).

The necklace Dani was custom made especially for Sara the b'day girl. There's a matching bracelet too but the picture I took was too blurry as I only had the night before to take the pictures before delivery and night photography isn't my exactly my strong point. Oh well, this is a sweet pink Matryoshka or Russian doll charm with Rose Swarovski crystals on a fine silver cable chain plus an extender for a growing young lady and a tiny pewter heart for love. Retails at RM40 (child size necklace).

:: Email me to get your own Matryoshka necklace or bracelet
:: Check out Darma too, another design featuring the lovely dolls!

New Necklaces

Here are some of the necklaces I've been working on and off since last month.

Pari Pari [pa-ree-pa-ree] = Fairy (Malay). A large vintage brass butterfly winged fairy with Swarovski crystals in Clear Crystal and two carved rose quartz beads.

Sayap Mutiara [sa-yap moo-tee-ah-rah] = Wing of Pearl (Malay). One of my favorite pieces. Antique silver filigree feather charm with Swarovski pearls in White.

Terbang [ter-bhang] = Fly (Malay). A large antique gold swooping swallow with Swarovski crystal heart in Fuschia and bicones in Dorado.

Bimbit [bim-bit] = to carry (Malay). A tiny handbag charm weaved with Swarovski crystals in various sizes plus a Czech flower bead and Swarovski pearl as the "button"

Hanya Mimpi [han-ya mim-pee] = Just a Dream (Malay). A large vintage brass butterfly with various brass butterfly charms and Swarovski briolette, butterfly and bicones. This piece is somewhat a departure from my usual style. Thought I'd "experiment" a little :)

I'll be posting more details and prices a little later on so watch this space. See ya!

Darma

Darma means good deed in Indonesian but if you look it up on Wikipedia (which I always do), in Sanskrit it means "the 'right way of living' or 'proper conduct,' especially in a religious sense." Hmmm.... excuse me while I think deep thoughts. Heh.

This double layer necklace has been sent to a special someone who did a very nice thing as the name Darma signifies. I bet you know who you are already right?? Darn. I'm so bad at keeping secrets. Here's hoping that it'll reach you in one piece and that you like it. ^_^

I made Darma with antique silver fine cable chains, 3mm Swarovski Crystals in Crystal and an 8mm Rose heart, plus I added a sweet medium sized Russian Doll Charm which I really can't get enough of. I only have very limited numbers of these charms and this particular one that I used here is hands down my favorite (a dark Persian blue with a Hot Pink rose).

Egyptian Maybe

This is Masika which means born during the rain in Egyptian. I actually took a longer time than usual coming up with a name because all the Malay names I could think of somehow didn't fit... My mom solved the problem by just taking one look at it and simply said, "it looks very Egyptian." Well, that explains it! Hence the necklace was christened Masika as an ode to the rainy season we've been having here in Malaysia.

I taught this piece to my Level 4 students as the grand final project (Level 4 being the very last level) and I must say that I'm really proud at how far they've come... they didn't even bat an eyelash when I presented this piece to them whereas before if I so much as mentioned a weaving project everyone would collectively groan! *proud beam* I think I'm going to miss this batch of students very much...

Anyways, Masika is not for sale (sorry). She will be residing at Sophia as a show piece but if you'd like a remake, do email me. Masika was made with loads of bronze seed beads, 4mm synthetic pearls in bluish green and 4mm Swarovski crystals in Olivine and Blue Zircon.

Mandisa, however is for sale. Meaning sweet in Egyptian, Mandisa is a fairly large piece and I think, very glamorous. Made entirely by accident as I was trying out a new kind of weave, I'm totally in love with this piece but it takes simply ages to finish... ah well, I suppose all good things come to those who are wait eh? Too bad I'm not very patient. Heh.
Mandisa is made with gold seed beads and 4mm Swarovski crystals in Vintage Rose. Retails at RM55/US$16.

On Black

This is Kavita, sister of Karisma and Karina. Made specially for Yi Ling who wanted this jeans inspired piece for casual wear.
Made with imported silver dangle, 4mm Turquoise Swarovski crystals and 4mm Silver Czech Teardrops + a chain in the middle with a dangling 4mm Swarovski bead (not visible from this angle)

While making this piece, I thought of Madeline the kind and big hearted little French schoolgirl. If you have a little girl of your own, you want her to watch this particular cartoon because not only was Madeline kind but she was brave and SMART; Heck, everyone could take a cue from her! Anyways, I'd like to think that Madeline would wear something like this when she grows up. ^_^
I have already sold this set, but if you'd like something similar, drop me a line.
This set was made with 5mm Rosaline & 4mm Light Amethyst Swarovski crystals, 6mm Opal Pink Czech Teardrops and lots and lots of wire wrapping.
Retailed @ RM110/US$31.50

Custom Design

A big THANK YOU to those who came to my stall last Sunday!
I love, love, LOVE people who ask for custom designs and I had quite a number of ladies who did just that.

Laura loved her necklace but felt that she needed it to be made shorter.

Esther adored Tender Pink but wanted
something simpler for the office, so Tender Blossom was created.

Then I made this little pearl and crystal number for Janice to complement her off-white wedding dress. Very simple and can always be worn after the wedding.

And later on, 3 lovely ladies came by to gab and had a few things made for them while darling Natalie stood by patiently, even while it poured cats and dogs, for me to finish her pieces. Thanks for being so patient Natalie, and I must say our conversation of the woman psyche was very interesting. ;) hehehe

NOTICE: Please feel free to tell me what you like or don't like about my designs k, cause I'll gladly alter them for you or even make a brand spanking new piece based on your own designs and colors! Drop me an email for more info.

More earrings here.
